Subject Taught: History

Why do you love your subject? History helps us understand who we are and where we are from. It develops a shared sense of culture, community and identity. In terms of skills, it gives you comprehension, empathy, chronological reasoning, analysis of sources, interpretations of events, weighing of important evidence, supporting an argument and then making a judgement.

What university did you attend and what did you study? I attended Queen Mary, University of London and studied History for my Undergraduate Degree. I then went on to King's College London to study a Master’s Degree in Contemporary British History.

What do you want for our students at Waterside? Ultimately, I want Waterside Academy to be the best school in Hackney. This means our students showing our core values of 'Care, Challenge, Confidence and Courtesy' in all their interactions. Moreover, this also means getting our students the best possible quality of education that leads to outstanding levels of progress and attainment. This includes students getting high quality pastoral support and a broad range of extra-curricular activities. Overall, I want our students to feel proud of their school and become respectful, caring and ambitious members of their communities.
